Programs & Initiatives
HPD offers a range of programs and initiatives designed to educate, empower, and involve community members in public safety efforts. Some of our key programs include:
- Neighborhood Watch: A partnership between residents and police to prevent crime and improve neighborhood safety.
- Citizen Police Academy: An interactive program that provides insights into the daily operations and responsibilities of HPD.
- Crime Free Multi-Housing: A relationship between police and our local apartment managers in a joint effort to keep their community safe.
- Youth Programs: Activities and mentorship opportunities for young people, including the Junior Police Academy and Explorer Post.
- D.R.E.A.M.: A five-week program teaching our 5th graders the importance of making good decisions and the consequences of bad choices.
- CAPTURE: A voluntary video surveillance program provided to citizens to help solve crimes in a timely manner.
- Senior Safety: We regularly meet with our senior citizens to provide insight and warnings regarding the latest scams, fraud, and theft.
We are constantly developing new initiatives to address the evolving needs of our community and promote positive interactions between officers and residents.
