Hi everyone!  I’m Ducktales Hijinx, or “Jinx” for short.  I am a female black Labrador Retriever. I was born in Missouri on May 25, 2022, to the Silver State Service Dogs family of service dogs (SSSD).  When I was just 8 weeks old, my service dog family flew me to Nevada (through the generosity of the angels of Angel Flight).

Once I became a Nevada resident, my SSSD family got to know me.  It was then they knew my purpose in life was clear; to serve our community!

From then on, I was trained and socialized extensively by my SSSD family of trainers and volunteers for approximately the next 16 months, earning my Canine Good Citizen and Public Access Test Certifications (passing everything with flying colors of course).

After my training, SSSD selected the Henderson Police Department to be the recipient of my services.  This is when I got to meet my new mom-handler, Officer Katrina Farrell.  I had to show her the service animal ropes since I was the professional at it!  She learned fast, and about a month later we passed the Public Access test together, and we are now community engagement partners!

On February 1st, 2024, I officially became the very first community engagement K9 for the Henderson Police Department.

What does a community engagement K9 mean?  Well, it means I am a special working K9 that is available to our community for all the love and hugs I can get.  I get to attend HPD’s public events, visit schools (upon request), and visit my Henderson Police Department family members while they are at work.

If you have an event, or want to request a visit from me, let us know!

You can reach us by contacting our HPD PIO

Watch for us at our next community event too!
